Manipulation Under Anesthesia (MUA)
Manipulation Under Anesthesia (MUA) is a treatment that's surging in popularity with chronic pain patients and their doctors. Many believe this is largely due to patient satisfaction and medical research touting its safety1. This treatment combines stretching and other muscle release techniques under light anesthesia (conscious sedation). Once relaxed, the patient is gently stretched to eliminate scar tissue and adhesions in and around the area of treatment. Locally, MUA procedures are performed by medical and/or chiropractic doctors associated with Arizona Spine & Disc Centers.
